Dr. Dharmasri Kumaratunge, new Secretary to the Ministry of Technology and Chairman of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka, visited the Commission office yesterday (01.01.2024) and engaged in discussions with senior TRCSL officials regarding future action plans and ongoing issues. This appointment comes at a crucial juncture for Sri Lanka as the nation embarks on an ambitious journey toward a digital economy under the DIGIECON 2030 programme, launched by His Excellency the President. Dr. Kumaratunge's leadership is poised to play a significant role in steering the telecommunications sector toward alignment with this national initiative. Dr. Dharmasri Kumaratunge serves as a consultant on public policy at Mastercard, Senior National Consultant at the International Trade Centre (ITC) UN, Business Consultant at PayMedia (Pvt) Ltd., and Board Member of DirectPay and CeleTa (Pvt) Ltd. Prior to these positions, he served as an Assistant Governor at the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL). With over 31 years of experience in the Central Bank, he has worked across various departments in different capacities, including the Economic Research Department, Information Technology Department, and Payments and Settlements Department.
