Tharalika Livera from TRCSL appointed as the new Vice Chair for the South Asian Sub Region of the APT Policy & Regulatory Forum
Ms. Tharalika Livera, Deputy Director for Compliance (Surveillance & Quality of Service) of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) has been appointed as the new Vice Chair for the South Asian Sub Region of the APT Policy & Regulatory Forum during its 15th meeting held from 3rd to 5th August in Singapore.
The meeting was attended by the delegates from APT member countries, affiliate member countries and international organisations with the vision to build a Smart Digital Economy through ICT. Another main objective of the Forum is to bring telecommunications and ICT policy makers and regulators from the region together to a common platform for a dialogue on issues faced by them as a result of the unprecedented changes taking place in the ICT sectors.
Ms. Tharalika Livera said ‘it was clearly understood from the presentations that the member countries are well aware of the significance of the ICT for social-economical development of respective countries. The importance of promoting innovative development, strengthening comprehensive connectivity and infrastructure development of a country to achieve the vision of building a Smart Digital Economy through ICT was emphasised at the conference’. She further added that the regulator, TRCSL has a major role to play in building a Smart Digital Economy by considering the ICT as the key enabler for social, economic and environmentally sustainable economic growth and development of Sri Lanka and we should join hands to work towards achieving the set vision.
