The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) successfully inaugurated the TRCSL Research & Development Program 2024, strengthening its commitment to support research and development in the field of telecommunication.
For over 15 years, this initiative has served as a significant platform for promoting research and development in telecommunications, in partnership with universities and research institutions across Sri Lanka. Aligned with the mandate of the Sri Lanka Telecommunications Act, this program highlights TRCSL’s continuous support to drive both academic and industry research that addresses key challenges and delivers practical solutions for the telecommunication sector.
This year’s R&D program showcased research contributions from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, University of Moratuwa, University of Kelaniya, and University of Ruhuna, featuring latest research studies on:
The event brought together researchers from state universities, members of the research committee and officials of TRCSL as well as industry experts. The program featured engaging Q&A sessions following the initial presentation of each research, fostering knowledge exchange and constructive dialogue among researchers, undergraduates and telecom operators.
By supporting initiatives that connect academic research with practical applications through collaboration with industry experts, the program continues to drive sustainable progress in Sri Lanka's telecommunications sector.
